Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the 12.Saeima
Professional experience
Ināra Mūrniece was elected as the Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia on 4 November 2014. She represents the National Alliance "All For Latvia!" – "For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK". She has been a member of the Saeima since 2011. In the period between 2011 and 2014, Ināra Mūrniece was the Chairperson of the Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee, and between September and November 2014 she was the Chairperson of the National Alliance "All For Latvia!" – "For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK" parliamentary group.
Before being involved in politics, for 16 years Ināra Mūrniece worked in the editorial office of the largest daily newspaper, Latvijas Avīze, reporting on internal affairs and foreign policy matters.
Ināra Mūrniece has a degree in translation. In 2009, she graduated from the Faculty of Modern Languages of the University of Latvia, and in 2007, she obtained a professional bachelor’s degree in translating and interpreting at the University College of Economics and Culture. At the University of Latvia, she also studied the Latvian language and literature.
Ināra Mūrniece was born on 30 December 1970.
