On Thursday, 2 December, the Christmas tree set up next to the main building of the Saeima was lighted.
In honour of the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of the Declaration on the Renewal of Independence of the Republic of Latvia, the Christmas tree is decorated in crimson-white-crimson colours.
The Tree of Independence set up near the Saeima is a part of the Christmas Tree Trail project. As such, Christmas trees which are traditionally put up in Riga get special decorations and designs.
