During her visit to the Parliament of Ireland, Daiga Mieriņa, Speaker of the Saeima, met with Verona Murphy, Ceann Comhairle of the Dáil Éireann, and a decision was made to establish a parliamentary group for promoting cooperation with the Parliament of Latvia.

Both parties highlighted the strong potential for Latvia and Ireland to deepen mutual collaboration, particularly in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies. They emphasised that closer parliamentary ties could serve as an important jumpstart for further cooperation. The Irish parliamentary group for promoting cooperation with the Parliament of Latvia will be chaired by Paula Butterly, while the Saeima parliamentary group for promoting cooperation with the Parliament of Ireland is chaired by Uģis Rotbergs.

During her visit to Ireland, Speaker Mieriņa also met with Mark Daly, Cathaoirleach of the Seanad Éireann, and with representatives of parliamentary committees.

She was accompanied on the visit by Raimonds Bergmanis, Chair of the Defence, Internal Affairs and Corruption Prevention Committee of the Saeima.
