The Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee: Economic cooperation with the U.S. should be boosted more actively (29.11.2010.)
Latvia and the United States have good prospects for cooperation not only in the political field but also in the economy, as the hitherto successful cooperation in the non-military cargo transits to Afghanistan attests. Foreign Affairs Committee members stressed that point when they met with H.E. Ms. Judith Garber, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Republic of Latvia on Friday, 26 November.

On Thursday, 4 November, during the first meeting of the European Affairs Committee, members of the Committee elected a former diplomat and defence minister Mr. Imants Lieģis (Unity) as the Chairman of the Committee.
The Parliament of Latvia approves the new government (03.11.2010.)
On Wednesday, 3 November, in an extraordinary session, the Saeima gave a vote of confidence to the Cabinet of Ministers formed by Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis. 63 MPs voted in favour of the new government; 35 MPs voted against.

On 22 October 2010 the 29th Session of the Baltic Assembly was held in the parliament of the Republic of Latvia. Mrs. Ērika Zommere, President of the Baltic Assembly, Mr. Gundars Daudze, Speaker of the Saeima, Mrs. Ene Ergma, President of the Estonian parliament, and Mrs. Irena Degutienė, Speaker of the Lithuanian parliament, addressed the audience at the opening of the Session, which was held in the Plenary Chamber.
At the Baltic Assembly Session held on Friday, 22 October, the Chairperson of the BA Social Affairs Committee, Silva Bendrāte, emphasised that the Baltic States need closer integration in several health care areas, and that can be achieved by implementing specific joint cross-border projects.
On 22 October the Baltic Assembly in its 29th Session adopted a Resolution stating that governments of the Baltic States should intensify coordination of taxation policy and entrepreneurship-related regulations in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, for instance, to develop similar tax systems in all three countries.
The Baltic Council urges the strengthening of economic cooperation among Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia (22.10.2010.)
Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian parliamentarians and government representatives note with satisfaction the signs of economic stabilisation in the Baltic States and urge consistent strengthening of cooperation of the Baltic States in the area of economy and finance. Such an opinion was voiced in the Joint Statement of the Baltic Council which was officially signed on Friday, 22 October, at the Saeima.
