Saeima calls on NATO member state parliaments to support Ukraine’s official application for NATO membership
Underscoring the need for the NATO Washington Summit to clearly demonstrate strong unity and commitment, with all Allies willing to shoulder their fair share of responsibility for collective security, on Thursday, 20 June, the Saeima adopted a statement calling on the parliaments of NATO member states to support Ukraine’s official application for NATO membership. In the statement, the Saeima urges the governments of NATO member states to support extending an invitation for Ukraine to join NATO at the summit to be held in Washington, D.C., in July this year.
New law significantly strengthens cybersecurity in Latvia
On Thursday, 20 June, the Saeima adopted in the final reading the draft National Cyber Security Law in order to significantly strengthen cybersecurity in Latvia. It aims to improve cybersecurity in Latvia, as well as introduces stricter security requirements for state, local government institutions and enterprises. This law will also implement European Union (EU) requirements for a high common level network and information system security across the EU.

Improved accessibility and monitoring of medicines
On Thursday, 20 June, the Saeima adopted in the final reading amendments to the Pharmacy Law in order to facilitate the monitoring and accessibility of medicines and medical devices.
Large family status will be maintained by the families whose children are serving in the state defence service
If a child of a large family is serving in the state defence service, henceforth this family will retain the status of a large family. This is provided for by amendments to the Law on the Protection of Children's Rights, which were adopted by the Saeima in the final reading on Thursday, 20 June.

On Thursday, 20 June, the Saeima adopted a law dismissing the Rēzekne City Council. 
Additional requirements for children's camp managers and employees
In order for children attending camps and their parents to feel safe, additional requirements will be imposed on the managers and employees of the children's camps. On Thursday, 20 June, the Saeima adopted amendments to the Education Law tasking the Cabinet of Ministers to specify the requirements.
State language exam requirement applied to wider circle of Russian citizens
Russian citizens who have received permanent residence permits under the so-called Foreigner Law will also have to pass the official language examination. The Saeima made the decision on Thursday, 20 June, adopting in the final reading amendment to the Immigration Law.
Reform introduces new prison system and better resocialisation of sentenced persons
To reform the prison system and improve the resocialisation of prisoners, on Thursday, 20 June, the Saeima adopted in the final reading amendments to Latvia’s Sentence Execution Code.
