Accessibility Statement

The website www.saeima.lv has been developed to make its content as accessible as possible to a broad range of people, including people with visual, hearing or mobility impairments.

All of the most popular web browsers allow website contents to be zoomed in and out. This can be done by pressing the “Ctrl” and the "+" or "-” keys, or by holding the “Ctrl” key and scrolling up or down with the scroll wheel.

The website has no pop-up windows that could hinder the user’s ability to use the published content.

How accessible is this website?

In 2022, the Saeima ensures partial compliance of the website www.saeima.lv with the requirements set out in the Cabinet Regulations No. 445 "Procedures for Publishing Information on the Internet by Institutions” of 14 July 2020. Several of the non-compliances observed require additional financial resources, which are currently not provided.

Some sections of this website may not be fully accessible. For instance:

  • some sections have a lower colour contrast, which can hinder perceptibility;
  • several or the documents published on the website are available in the PDF format and, as a result, are not accessible by accessibility utility programs;
  • some of the video materials published on the website do not have subtitles;
  • detailed alternative text is not available for illustrative images;
  • keyboard accessibility of the website may be inconvenient.

The website contrast generally meets the criteria, but it can be changed, if needed, by installing a web browser plug-in.

The accessibility assessment was performed in accordance with the “Guidelines for impact assessment and justification of disproportionate burden of compliance with the accessibility requirements imposed on institutional websites” (WCAG 2/0 AA), developed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development.

The assessment document is available here.

Alternative means of accessibility
Video broadcasts of the Saeima sittings have no subtitles; transcripts (in Latvian) of the Saeima sittings are available as an alternative. We recommend solving contrast-related accessibility issues by using a web browser plug-in.

How is the accessibility of this website improved?
The Saeima website is regularly inspected. Upon receiving error notifications, the shortcomings are rectified, thus improving the website accessibility.
