Guided tours at the Saeima

Anyone interested may visit the Saeima to learn more about the work of the Latvian Parliament, as well as the architecture and history of the main building of the Saeima. 

Tours are organised only upon prior request. Requests are accepted not later than one week before the desired visit date.

Available tour times:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday between 9:00 and 16:30.
Thursday between 9:30 and 16:30 (opportunity to be present at the Saeima sitting).

Tours are available for individual visitors and groups of up to 30 people . Please, assess individually the interest of schoolchildren, and we recommend to bring schoolchildren who have reached the age of 10.

Tours are available in Latvian. Tours in foreign are available only upon prior agreement.
Tours are free of charge and last up to one hour.

How to apply

Visitors must apply via phone (+371 6708 7380, +371 6708 7483) by calling the Protocol Department of the Saeima Administration, or by sending an e-mail to ekskursijas@saeima.lv.

After confirming the tour time, a representative of the Protocol Department will notify the applicant about the necessity to submit a list of visitors not later than two days before the set tour date containing the name, surname and ID number of each visitor, as well as the contact details of the group leader.

With regard to General Data Protection Regulation we hereby inform you that for the purpose of identifying the visitors of the Saeima we will process the following personal data: name, surname, ID number. Visitor personal data are processed with the objective to issue a pass required for entering the premises of the Saeima and to verify visitor identity.

Children and young people up to the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The applicant (educational establishment) of such visitor group shall specify in the application that the legal representatives of minors have agreed to the processing of personal data.

Whenever possible, individual visitors are included in signed-up group tours.

Persons not on the visitor list of a signed-up group tour will be denied entry to the premises of the Saeima.

Safety and order

When arriving at the main building of the Saeima, all visitors must present their passport or electronic ID card. Children and young people up to the age of 14 (included) may present other personal identification document with photo (e.g. student identity card).
Following the examination of identity documents, all visitors of the Saeima must undergo a safety check.
The following items are forbidden on the premises of the Saeima:

  •     firearms;
  •     explosives and flammables;
  •     sharp objects;
  •     self-defence equipment;
  •     banners, flags and posters;
  •     items intended for making noise (e.g. whistles, loudspeakers)
  •     animals;
  •     bags exceeding the size of a backpack (~ 50 x 40 x 20 cm).


Please note that for security purposes a police officer is entitled to temporarily remove the mentioned items for the duration of the tour, or deny entry to the premises of the Saeima.

While on premises, visitors must follow the standards of public decency, they must not disturb the tour nor the daily work of the members of parliament and staff.
Visitors are invited to dress properly for the occasion.

Visitors are allowed to take photographs and videos as long as they follow the instructions of the tour guide.
